You taught me how to cook, took me to ice hockey games, went skating, walked in nature, and gave me so many wonderful experiences. Every day is a new discovery, and it's all thanks to you who are always kind and considerate.
My host mother and father always cared about us. Sometimes we fought, but they never abandoned us. At dinner, we would eat delicious homemade food by my host mother and talk about the day's events and casual conversations, and I was able to learn English naturally and get in touch with the way native speakers think.
I will never forget experiencing big events like Halloween and Christmas as a part of my family. I have fond memories of carving pumpkins and eating turkey.
In addition, their pet dog Heidi and their adorable grandchildren always brought me comfort.
Hello, my name is Jaime, I am Spanish and I was at Dean and Sherry's house on 22/23.
The whole year I was there Dean and Sherry taught me and helped me discover Canada. They are very hospitable and they always cared about me, with anything I needed they always were there and gave me support. Both Sherry and Dean are great cooks, you will discover many foods that you have not tried before. The rooms where you stay are large with lots of space and are comfortable. Meeting their family has been a great experience that I really enjoyed. Everyone is very friendly and close, whenever there is a family meal they will invite you and talk to you, for me it has been very interesting to get to know the different culture and way of life.
Definitely a great experience I recommend.
"
i always miss the time when i lived in your house and murrayville... and also your pasta lol
you are a really good homestay! i feel that i was really lucky to live with you for the first two years
you have contributed largely to my success of being accepted into ubc today
thank you so much!" Feel free to contact me directly if you any questions with
regards to daily matters. I would recommend
1. All the Froc family members are very nice and friendly, they would all
be willing to help, so please do not be stressed or feeling embarrassed if you
have any problem no matter it is from school or home
2. Try not to stay in
your own room for the whole night. Try talking with Sherri or anyone, this
really helps improve your english
3. Remember to tell Sherri ahead of time if
you are not going to have dinner at home.
4. Tell Sherri what you like and
what you do not like, and maybe even go grocery shopping with her! If you tell
her, you will have higher chance getting what you like for lunch and
dinner!
5. Be responsible with your own duties such as following up with
school work and keep your room and washroom clean.
The most important
part is to tell them whatever you have in your mind, i am sure that Froc family
will all try their best make you feel as comfortable as your at home.

Hello,
I’m K.M and I stayed with the Frocs for three years during my highschool life.
They treat you nicely. They have experience so they were my good adviser during the stay. If you live normally I don’t think there isn’t any problem, but there are some rules that you have to remember. If you are told you should obey. They aren’t any unreasonable rules but basic ones. For example, you have to tell the Froc family your plans ahead. You have to let the homestay mother whether you are eating at home or going out for dinner everyday. If you share your plans ahead they might give you a ride.
For the Froc family’s food, it is delicious, and I did not have any problems with their cooking. Also, the Froc family is always seeking new opportunities, and they accept students from foreign countries often so it is a good opportunity to meet new interesting people.
In the end, I was able to know well about the Froc family throughout my high school life. I think you are able to perform the best if you stay with the Frocs! If you are interested you should contact!

Hello,
my name is Joan and I'm from Spain. I stayed with the Froc family for three months and I really enjoyed this experience. They are a really good family and they help you with everything. Sherri's food is so good and really different, I mean, you are not going to eat the same dish twice a week. If you ever need some help with the school, the bank, your cell phone company... you should ask Sherri, she is always going to help you. If you like hockey you can ask Dean to go to see a game, he is going to join you for sure. My experience in Canada it was really good among other things for my homestay family. After this experience I'm sure that my friendship with the Froc family will not finish here.
Hola,
Hola,
Em dic Joan i soc de Catalunya. He estat amb la família Froc durant 3 mesos i m'ho he passat molt be.
Go there! Fabulous memories ...
Sherrri, you've forgotten your funny dog : Daisy !!! A small sausage which imitates the pig when we walk. ^^

From Y.E. - Fukuoka, Japan
I’m M.M. I come from France. I’m studying horticulture in a
Engineer School in France. The reason why I decided to go to Canada is to do a work
placement. As part as my formation I have to do each summer work placement in foreign
countries or in France. So for my practice during the summer 2008 I chose to go to Vancouver
in order to discover a place I didn’t knew and to speak English.
Therefore, I worked 3 months (May 2008-August 2008) in a nursery in Langley. I was
looking for a homestay family in the area of Langley. So, I found the family Froc. After many emails, they decided
to accept me coming in their home. It’s not always easy to meet people for the first time after a
ten hours flight and especially when they don’t speak your language. But for sure something I
will l never forget, it’s the way they introduce me in their home and in their family’s life.
After, maybe just 3 days, I felt like a part of the family. I couldn’t even realize that I met them for the first
time 3 days ago.
As soon I arrived, they proposed me to take part actively in their family’s life. I mean that I
was very often inviting to go with them to the church, the pool, to have a picnic, a walk,
etc…It was always very pleasant moments, we were speaking about our life before my came
in Vancouver. I liked so much telling them about how is the life in Europe, the main
differences with Canada. Moreover, they were explaining how that works in Canada too. I
could have serious discussions with Dean and Sherri and a lot of fun with the kids. The most important point for me, when I looked for a homestay, was to share great
moments with other people and to have fun together. I think, it’s exactly what we did during
my stay in Canada.
Slowly I started to feel me like really part of their family. I was bringing down my laptop to
live with them in the evening, we had very long discussions while preparing lunches for the
day after, I was playing outside in the garden with them, sharing my
pictures of the weekend on Sunday night. In fact, we spent the week together, but in the
weekend, I decided to explore the beautiful British Columbia with my friends, who were also
here for their practice. So on Sunday night we had a lot of things to tell us each other, a nice
moment we shared weekly in the sofa of the living room. They were always surprised that I
did so many things…but if I did so much it thanks their help. I mean, that Dean and Sherry
were always trying to help me planning my trips and making them the most successful as
possible! That works, I spent very nice weekend in the area of Vancouver, especially the ones
I spent with them!
If I had to answer the question: “What was the worst thing and the best you did during you
stay?” (Sherry asked very often this question, so prepare yourself ☺) I would answer; the
best thing is difficult to say because there were so many! Anyway I’m sure that the worst thing was to leave Canada and to leave them.
To conclude I would say that if you are looking for an actively family living in a very nice
home, with good Canadian cooking made by Sherri and trying helping you as much as they
can, the family Froc is the homestay you would like to have! Leave your scare home and
come to Canada with happiness and desire into discovering the amazing British Colombia!
Enjoy your stay by the Frocs!
Recommendation letter (stay during july and august 2009)
My name is L., I am a French student at the INHP of Angers (an engineer school of horticulture and landscape) and I was 18 years old when I had the luck to go to Canada to do a work placement in 2009. That how I discovered the family Froc.
During my stay of seven weeks, I worked six weeks in a nursery in Langley and after that I decided to visit more British Columbia during one week. It is the nursery where I worked who found for me this host family who was very near of the nursery. As soon as the family Froc got my e-mail, they sent me a very detailed e-mail to present themselves, this convinced me to go in their family.
I had the opportunity to meet my future host family in France before I came to Canada because they were visiting France during one week in April and have spent one night in Angers. I had a very nice evening with them, after this I was already looking for to be with them. Before I arrived in Canada I didn’t imagine that the family who I will be during seven weeks would be such a good host family. Since the beginning, when they picked up me at the airport, I felt good with them, already in the car to go to my new house for the summer, I knew that I would have nice days with them.
During my stay, all the family was very nice and attentive with me, they often proposed me to do activities with them like going to the swimming pool, going to a “wiener roast” (this is a sort of Canadian barbecue), going to the restaurant etc, I was like a member of the family. I had also nice moments with the two children of the house and with the three animals of the house (a dog, a cat and a rabbit). At the same time of my stay, a japanese student was also hosted by the Frocs, I liked to speak with him, it was interesting to learn things about Japan and to know him. With all the family, I improved a lot my English, because I loved to speak with them and they were interesting to learn about me, about my activities and about France (I had also particular classes of pronunciation by thier daughter). With the family Froc, I had the opportunity to visit some parts of British Columbia, and I had fun moments with them, also at their home when we played for example games or when we watched movies. The dinner was also a good moment, all the family was around the table at the same time and it was a good time to discuss together, I really felt like a part of the family because me too I had the opportunity to speak about my day. And one thing important : Sherri is a very good cook, she always try to cook different things to show the Canadian food, and she makes delicious cakes which are so cheering after a hard day of work. We also shared a passion for….canadian ice cream !! (I discovered the SO delicious ice cream sandwiches !)
During the weekends I have visited a lot British Columbia by myself and took pictures of my trip, they were always very interested to know what I had done and to see my pictures. They also helped me a lot to plan my trips, this was very helpful for me.
I have so much good souvenirs of this trip in Canada, I think that to have a good host family is a very important thing during a work placement in a foreign country and I had this luck !
I remember everything as if it was yesterday.
Hello my name is Daniel I am from Spain and I stayed with Dean and Sherri for 1 year. The truth is that at first I was a little unsure about going for a year to a house that is not mine but I quickly adapted because Dean and Sherri treat you like one of the family, they help you with everything at first to help you adapt to a new country, with the whole issue of bank account and others, then also always during the year they tell you places where there are things to have fun with your friends and do not stay at home bored. They also offer you to go with them to do some activities or go to dinner with other members of the family, they are all very nice and very pleasant. About the food, you will never go hungry because everything they make is very tasty and you will also try dishes you have never tasted before. Their dog Heidi is very funny and funny, I will always remember when I left the door of my room open and she came in and messed up everything but she is so cute that you can't get mad at her. And also thanks to them I will never forget my year in Canada
